On Wednesday afternoon (1/27), Water=Life traveled to the community of St Jacques to work with the home church of Haitian advisor Marie Estelle Clermont. This is a view of the area.
The road to the church was so steep and rocky, we had to leave the truck at the top of the road.Friends and advisors carried bucket, filter kits, lids and spigots down and then up to the church.
One more turn up the mountain to the church. Here Marie Estelle greets 2 of her 4 daughters.
Marie Estell’s sweet 5 year old daughter waits for the training to begin.
Marie Estelle and her husband founded a house church two years ago, now with a membership of 35 families. Here she explains the benefits she and her family have received from being a Water=Life recipient for the past year.
Church members make a choice to be a Water=Life recipient pledging an investment of 100 gouge ($.90 equivalent). They also decided to put the collected amount towards buying PVC pipe to bring water from the mountain into the new church cistern from which they will gather their water.
Elena, Marie Estelle and Wadson clown it up with some of the buckets they delivered to 3 communities.
